Say good bye to my Military Life

Day goes by. I am still counting down how many day left. I started from 365, and the second time I notice this number, it became 200... and became 100... 60... 30... Now, I am facing my last week of the military life. I start preparing my leaving speech very early. What I want to say is that during these days, there is one though support me to the end. That is, I try to make EVERYTHING become interesting. Including repaint the boat, rebuild the floor, even dropping the garbage! And I successful did it.

However, at this moment, I feel like that I have no energy to make a speech. I am tired of everything and whenever I start to think of my future... I lose my power.

Life is really complicate, isn't it?

35 days left!

The thing I currently worry about is what to do after I left the army. I already get used to counting down how many days remain.

There are many companies willing to give me the order, likes HTC, Trend Micro, Garmin, TSMS. It is really hard to decide which one to go. On the other hand, I still want to have other interview with different company. Maybe after that I can make decision easier, however, it is also possible that I will be more confused because there are tooo many choises. Who knows?

It is hard to be a nice guy

It is impossible to let everyone like you, even if you try soooo hard.

I always want to be nice to people in the army, and try to help everyone. Do as much as I can. However, there still are some people who can not understand my decisions or the advices I gave. They did not think deeply and are too shallow. It is really bothering me. There is not only me who can see the big picture, but why I am always worry about the people who can not?

Anyway, I only have 60 days left in the army. The freedom is waiting for me!!

5 Days Break

Does time really go that fast?! It has been a month again! I only have 5 days break this time, because we have an unstable schedule, just like what I said before.
After I came back, we have visitors in my home, who are the friends of my mother.
And she has a nice and cute daughter named Jessica, she and I are in the same age. It is surprise that she like Heroes too, so we have common interest to chat XD. She try to finish the season 1 in my house, so I did what a CS student will do, illegally watching them online~ Even though I had already finish the season 2 and waiting for the third season, it still great to watch the first season again.
I also met my roommates during my short break, we went to Gordon Biersch for dinner. It is a nice place but the prices are a little expensive. Actually, It is super expensive XD. We have six people, and we spent about 5000$! Anyway, the food is great and the beers are fantastic so I think it is worth.
I have to back to my ship at 9 PM, and there is a typhoon in Taiwan... What are they thinking??? Oops, I forget that they don't think because they have no brain.
It explain everything...

Movie: Hancock

Generally, it is a funny movie, there are many scenses can make you laugh to tear. However, after I watching the entire movie, I found out that this movie is talking about the longlyness of heros. It is sad if two people fate to be with each other but they can not. At the end of the movie, what I care is not about wether Hancock became a true hero or not, but is about how can he hide his love in the furture.

My Best Friend Broke Up With My Best Friend

They had been together for about two and a half years, therefore we know each other very well. And of course, she and I became good friend.
But they told me that they broke up few week ago, when I heard this breaking news I was deeply shocked. Because it is really hard to imagine they are not together anymore and I definitely do not want to lost anyone of them!
However, the situation became even more weird... SHE HAS A NEW BOY FRIEND! Am I in a movie or something? How can she find a new BF in this short short time? It makes me think of something bad, something I thought she will never do. After a short chat with her, I believe that she is not a two-timer because she is so pure and naive.
The reason they broke up is she thought her feeling to him is fading away. What a good reason, it is the same reason that my ex-girl friend broke up with me... Anyway, how can she still be my best friend if I have no topic to talk with her? I feel really sad about this.
I hope everything will be fine and I also hope they can be together again, when they all grow up.

A Wonderful Wedding

I will upload some photos later, I am preparing my stuff to back to my ship right now.

Anyway, wish them have a happy life forever.

Tired!

I am so tired that I can not even fall a sleep...
I have been extremely busy in this week because I have to do a lot of paper works.
I almost did not sleep in these days. About 3 hours per day in average. I thought I will have a regular and healthy schedule in my military life, but instead, I became fatter and have a abnormal time schedule. It is really not what I expected.

8-days Break!

Finally, I got a long break. I have waited for this long vocation for almost 2 months!
Even thought they told me that I have 8 days, but it is possible that I will be called back earlier. In fact, I was called back this morning. I have to be at Kaohsiung at 9 pm tomorrow... It is really not a good new that 8-days break shorten to only 6 days.
However, I have a meaningful and busy schedule in these days. The first day I back from Kaohsiung I met my friends at Taipei Main Station, we ate a simple dinner and had a nice chat. After the dinner, we met Haining's new girl friend. When I heard that he has a new girl friend, my first reaction is "WOW, finally!!!" After then, I am looking forward to meet her in person. We went to McDonald to have some drink and chat about the gossips of Haining XD. Instead of staying at Taipei for 8 days, I plan to go to NCTU to visit my friends. When I went to NCTU, I had a full schedule: Lunch with my roommate's girl friend(my roommate is joining his duty too), Tea Time with my friend, Lunch with my old classmates, Midnight with my friend in the tennis team. I am glad that I can meet all of them! The day after I back from NCTU, I went to visit my roommate's mom in NTU hospital, she looks great and healthy. I sincerely hope she can getting better. Time always goes soooo fast. In these days, I realize an very important thing to my future that I have to prepare my application form and SOP when I still in the Navy. Otherwise, I will miss the deadline of the 2009 fall semester. The scariest part is that I also have to take the GRE exam before December. Actually, I have no confidence in these schedules. Sigh...
I really need to squeeze more time to study when I on the boat, but it is really hard! Anyway, just wish me good luck~

The Uncertainty of Navy

There is no constant schedule for the Navy, especially on our ship. It is possible that they told you we have a mission tomorrow, but they suddenly cancel this mission at midnight. Therefore, when you wake up, everything is changed. The uncertainty of Navy makes me hard to arrange my schedule. For example, I can not tell my friends when can we go out, and I can not tell my family when can I go home...
I really hate this "feature" of the Navy.

There is a Long Journey

On Saturday, our ship will take a 8-days mission. 8 days on the ocean... It must be hard and terrible! I already bought a lot of food, likes cookies, instant noodle, chocolate... etc. We must be well prepared for this mission~ In recent days, I have more time for my own study, and I read some good books. One of the book is "The Kite Runner". I will write a short summary later, maybe after I back from this long long journey XD. However, I finally can find some time to study so I can prepare for my GRE exam. The sad thing is that I really feel that my English ability is decreasing, sometime I even can not remember some simple vocabulary. Sigh...

No matter what, time still running, the world still rotating. Just be the master of yourself.

See u guys after 8 days!

Happy Chineses New Year!

Happy Chinese New Year to every one!!
We got a six-day break because of the new year. But time goes fast, I will be back to 蘇澳 tomorrow... I am glad that I spent a lot of time staying with my family, we talk about everything happened around me. I figure out that I never tell them the full story about my exchange student life, so I began my story from the first day in UIUC. It took a long time to finished my story, however, I feel good XD!

You will start to treasure every thing when you in the army, I mean EVERYTHING!

In the end, I have a happy Chinese new year, and I hope everyone has good luck in the next year.

The Second Break

This is my second break as a navy. We only got 12 hours break this time. It is wasting time to go back Taipei so I decide to stay in Ko-Sung for one day. I am now in the internet coffee house, reading the Google reader and checking the email. It is a big surprise that the Apple announced the Air series notebook. It is extremely light, but I also worry about the efficiency of the Mac Air.
Anyway, I can not bring any electronic device into our camp...

Now I can adjust to the life in the army, and now I am sure that I am going to the ship for 10 months... Wish me good luck.

The life as a Navy

This is my first break in the Navy life. The life in the army is extremely boring and meaningless. Doing the same things everyday... It is really wasting my time, and all of my skills is getting decrease. I think I am already become a retard in computer science...
The schedule of a day is: wake up -.> assemble -> clean up -> assemble -> breakfast -> assemble -> go to the class -> assemble -> lunch -> assemble -> take a nape -> assemble -> go to the class -> assemble -> dinner -> assemble -> one hour free time -> assemble -> go to the class -> assemble -> take a shower -> sleep.

The schedule is always the same. It feel like that I became a robot and the only thing I have to do is taking the order. But there are still many interesting thing in the Navy. One of my best friend is come from Philippines, and he can not understand the Chinese. So we have to communicate in English. We also have to translate the order to him. It is really cool that I can practice my English in the army, maybe it will do some help for my IBT test XD.

Anyway, join my duty is part of my life. I will try to enjoy this period!

BTW, Happy New Year to everyone!!!

Viva Las Vegas

This is an old post, but I accidently save this post as the draft...

I spent four nights at Las Vegas. This place is so cool, you can see everything in the world in Vegas.
Everything is luxurious and glorious. This is the city for fun and gambling!! The hotels are amazing, every hotel has its own theme. We live in Venetian, the hotel is so big that we have to spend a day to walk around it. There is a mall on the second floor in Venetian, and there is a river flow through it!
I already upload all the photos to my album.

P2P Backup System

Currently I am working on the p2p backup system, this is the final project of the distributed system.
But I have only three days to finish it... It means that I can not do a amazing p2p backup system. Maybe I will focus on the file integrity ans the fancy user interface~

The final project deadline of the parallel programming can be extended to 5/16. It is a good news for me, because we can start it after finished final exams~ What we are going to do is write a parallel program to find the optimal solution to Rubik's cube, it is a really interesting topic. This is the final project I want to do!!

GOGOGO!! final two weeks!!

Final Exam Week is Killing Me

This week is the beginning of the final exams, but I have no time to study them. Because I have A LOT OF projects to do... MP3 of the distributed system and the term project of the parallel system. I am under so much pressure that I have never been before. What a terrible week... What a terrible ending...

I keep doing stupid thing in Distributed System. First, I missed the deadline of MP1 and got the 50% delay penalty, that is not the worth part. I handed in a buggy program, which keep got SIG_FALUT while executing... So the grade of MP1 is extremely terrible. Second, it is about the MP2, I did not miss the deadline this time, but I forgot to upload it(the compass said I did not). What a tragedy for me... I work so hard on this mp, but I forgot to submit it, HAHA...

I really want to do my best on every course, but it seems like that Distributed System is not my type of course...

New Hard Drive!!

My laptop was totally unstable in this month, it always gave me a blue screen and died... After I reinstalled XP on my laptop three times in three weeks, I found out the problems was cause by the hard drive. I also figured out that the warranty of my laptop does not expire yet, I can just send my laptop to the IBM repair center and ask them to give me a new hard drive. Unfortunately, it takes a long time to send my laptop to there and wait for the reply and I have many homework and projects to do, so I decided to buy a new hard drive for my IBM X31.

To buy my new hard drive, I visited a website named NewEgg.com. They provide very good price and many choices. After I surfed all the hard drive, I decided to buy a fast one. I believe it will improve the performance about 50%, it is a little upgrade for my poor IBM X31.

Because I want the new hard drive very bad, I used UPS 2 days service, it is a little expensive but worthy. If I used original 3 days service, I would not get it until Monday. UPS provides a very convenient service, you can track your package on the website, and it will tell you where is your package right now, and the estimated arrival time. But this service does not always provide correct information, it told me that my package will arrive on the Friday morning, so I dropped one class to wait my hard drive, but no one knocked the door... The bad thing is that I have a lab session in the afternoon, so I can not stay at home... Fortunately, my roommates came back right on time!! I used my fastest speed to finish the lab and rush home, after I get home, my package was directly laid on my bed!!

After I installed the new hard drive, everything go smooth and SUPER fast!! I am not sure whether it is stable or not, but I believe that I do not have to reinstall my laptop in six months~

A Terrible Week Continued!

My laptop was crash yesterday, BLUE screen crash, thanks for Microsoft...

When my laptop gave me a blue screen, I was writing my ESL essay, so I have to use my roommate's laptop to do that...

After three hours of reinstallation, my laptop was back... But I still facing a UNKNOWN midterm tomorrow...
